It is a vain thing to fight God [vs1-6].
Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth take their stand
and the rulers gather together,
against the LORD
and against His Anointed One:
“Let us break Their chains
and cast away Their cords.”
You do not have the power. He has exalted our Lord Jesus Christ, and every opposition fails. His enemies accomplish His purpose and do His will!
We do not know the end result of Fulani terrorism, but we do know the elect will be saved; it fits into God’s master purpose.
No man can stop Christ. Let the nations tremble. No man can stop His salvation.
The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord taunts them.
Then He rebukes them in His anger,
and terrifies them in His fury:
“I have installed My King on Zion,
upon My holy mountain.” vs5-6
Secondly, what a wonderful day when Christ was born [vs7-8].
I will proclaim the decree
spoken to Me by the LORD:
“You are My Son;
today I have become Your Father.
God was manifested in the flesh! The Eternal God, the Equal with the Father, the Creator of heaven and earth was manifested as a baby to bear God’s wrath for sinners and demonstrate His love. He is the Fullness of the Godhead Bodily, the Ruler over all, and He became subject for our justification! By the obedience of this One Man we are saved and grace reigns abundantly. We get everything because of Christ.
He is the Beauty of God, Love Manifested, and He is the Joy of mankind! Fallen Angels do not have Him, but He took on the Seed of Abraham, becoming Surety for God’s elect [Heb 2:16]!
Finally, surrender completely to Jesus Christ [vs10-12].
Therefore be wise, O kings;
be admonished, O judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry
and you perish in your rebellion,
when His wrath ignites in an instant.
Do not play games here. Do not be unwise! Your soul is in His hands, and He’ll do as He pleases!
Make peace with Him while you can in full submission. Receive Him as Lord to rule you and Savior to make you enjoy His rule.
God will give us grace, but ONLY on the terms of faith in Christ. Believe on Him lest you perish when His wrath is kindled. Bow the knee!
Joseph illustrates Jesus Christ, after saving Egypt, he is exalted: “He had Joseph ride in his second chariot, with men calling out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he placed him over all the land of Egypt [Gen 41:43].”
The Lord Jesus is a good Savior, merciful and kind! He is gracious, pardoning iniquity, and passing by transgressions! He delights in mercy, but do not disregard Him or lower Him. Serve Him and be wise.
→ The Lord is ready to receive you: Take refuge.
Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.
