In the Bible we find the story of the Baby Jesus, so much more than the world could imagine. It is celebrated among billions of people around the world as a religious celebration with nativity scenes, symbolic decorations, gift-giving, family and other social gatherings and feastings without the first thought of it being the INCARNATION of our Lord Jesus Christ. That Jesus Christ, who is the non-created second person of the triune God, took on a human body and everything that is human, and became both man and God: and why? His incarnation was much more than just a kind visit from the Creator. It was the launching of God’s full and final counter-attack against all the sin, death and destruction that entered the world when Adam fell. The world does not know this nor any of the truths of THE BIBLE; what it is and its importance. Let’s consider that “God Is”: the existence of God is the determinative fact of the Bible. The Bible does not seek to prove the existence of God, but rather declares it. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is… (Heb.11:6). When this promise is granted all of life has its proper position. God is. This is the hub of truth. From it radiates the basic facts concerning the origin, nature and destiny of man; and the rationale of all life. “God Has Spoken”: the divine self-disclosure: Jehovah has revealed Himself in nature. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handwork” (Ps.19:1): and in the consciences of men, “which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the meanwhile accusing or else excusing one another” (Rom.2:15). The inspired Word declares, “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (II Pet.1:21): and supremely in the Incarnate Word – the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ. We see this in Hebrews 1:1-2, “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds.” In His speech God has not stuttered: He has spoken simply, directly and definitively. His revelation is true and perfect. Our ceaseless refrain should be, God has spoken, “O earth, earth, earth, hear the Word of the Lord” (Jer.22:29). We hear the Word of the Lord most clearly in the Bible. Our knowledge of all things pertaining to creation and redemption is derived from the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. If we would know the mind of God in any area of thought of life our primary source of reference must be the Word of God. The Bible is the source book of our knowledge of God. It is the textbook of divine truth, the guide book to everlasting life. Man’s philosophies, notions, opinions, and theories will perish with man, but it is declared that “the Word of God liveth and abideth forever” (I Pet.1:23). Until men perceive the Bible to be infinitely greater and higher than the mere words of men, and rather receive it as His inspired Word believing that without error, there remains no hope for them. ~~wtw
