Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob. Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever.

Psalm 44:4-8

To See His Glory

“When (Isaiah) saw His glory, (he) spake of Him.” (John 12:41).
When a man sees the glory of the Redeemer, CHRIST BECOMES HIS MESSAGE. Everything else fades into insignificance before the glory of Jesus Christ; His creative glory, His incarnate glory, His redemptive glory, His resurrected glory, His mediatorial glory, and His coming glory. When we see His glory, we will speak in HUMILITY, “Woe is me.” We will speak of OUR SINS, “I am a man of unclean lips.” We will speak in OBEDIENCE, “Here am I, send me.” We will make known His greatest glory, “He was wounded for our transgressions, and by His stripes we are healed.” “I am determined,” Paul said, “to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” Paul had seen His glory, too. I may be accused of having only one message and playing a one-string fiddle, so be it! I have seen His glory, therefore everything else is vanity. My one desire is that you see it, and the only way you will see His glory is for us to preach it! Pastor Henry T. Mahan

CHARITY NEVER FAILETH

1 Corinthians 13:8

Charity (Love) never faileth.” Now this can be said of no other Christian grace, in the sense in which love is here spoken of. Hope will be done away, when the thing hoped for is enjoyed. Faith will be lost in sight, when the object, not seen, but believed in, is revealed in open vision. Prophecies shall fail, when all the grand events predicted are fulfilled; and there is nothing relating to the kingdom, to need their further ministry. Tongues will also cease, when language, now necessary to communicate thoughts, will be no longer wanted. And all the knowledge of the earth, suited to the childhood of our present existence, will be superseded, in the ripeness of perfection, in Heaven. But, amidst all these failures, this charity, this love, being from Christ and in Christ, and as such, being immortal, incorruptible, and everlasting, cannot fail, but abideth forever.

Robert Hawker

The Promise Of The Lord

Having read the promise of the Lord in Ps. 90:10, “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away,” I’m reminded of another promise He has left His people in Heb. 13:5, “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Knowing therefore that all the promises of God, to His people, have eternally been made in Christ and that His promises are all “yea and amen to the glory of God,” 2 Cor. 1:20, we therefore believe and rest in the fact that what He has promised, He shall certainly perform.

REJOICE IN THE LORD
Phil. 3:1

Throughout the epistle to the believers at Philippi, Paul is always making reference to rejoicing in the Lord; "Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice" (Phil. 4:4). I can truthfully say there have been times in my life when I rejoiced in everything but the Lord, in religious service, office, ceremony, heritage. But there was a time when our God taught me the saving and the true gospel and convinced me that all was vanity and dung, and that Jesus Christ is All and in All, that every believer is complete in Christ (Col. 2:9). Once this was revealed to me, now I find that there are always abundant reasons to rejoice in Him no matter how difficult the day may be. Let me remind you of a few.

1). We rejoice in His glorious person. Totally and fully God and yet identified with our flesh ( John 1:14; 1 Tim. 3.16).

2). We rejoice in His perfect righteousness which He worked out for His people as our Mediator and Redeemer, He is the Lord our Righteousness (Jer. 23.6; Rom. 4:6).

3). We rejoice in His glorious sacrifice which eternally puts a way all our sin (Heb. 9.12; Heb. 9:26; Heb. 10:17).

4). We rejoice in His powerful grace that can transform us out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son (Col. 1:13).

5). We rejoice in His good and wise providence that works all things for our eternal good (Rom. 8.28).

6). We rejoice in His glorious resurrection by which we are justified (Rom. 4.25).

7). We rejoice in His eternal intercession for us as the Surety of the covenant of grace (Heb. 7.25; 1 John 2:1-2).

8). We rejoice in His second coming, although we do not know the hour or the time, we do know that He will appear the second time without sin unto salvation (Heb. 10. 28).

So, my friend, if you are a believer, you always have reasons to rejoice in the Lord!
