We will serve the LORD’S SUPPER next Sunday (09/29/19) following the morning messages. We will serve lunch in our dining hall following the worship services.
CHRIST LIVETH IN ME
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). How is it that Christ lives within us, His people? The Scripture tells us that He lives within our hearts by His Spirit Who is none other than God the Holy Spirit, the second Person of the Trinity, and by His Word as the Holy Spirit writes the Word of God upon our hearts (John 15:7; Rom. 8:9-11; Col. 3:16; 1 John 2:14,24,27). The living and ever-abiding presence of Christ within us by His Spirit is known as He gives us a knowledge and love of, even a hunger for, His Word. It is by His Word that we are convicted of our sin and comforted by His grace. It is by the Spirit that we grow in His Word of truth revealed in light of the Gospel of God’s free and sovereign grace in and by the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit uses the Word continually to drive us to Christ for all salvation, forgiveness, righteousness, eternal life, and glory. He uses the Word to teach and guide as He motivates us in obedience and restrains us from sin by the love of Christ for us and our love for Him. We in Whom Christ lives live by Him, in Him, from Him, and to His glory.

Only by omnipotent grace can a once-deceived religious sinner confess as Paul that they were “before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief” (1Tim. 1:13). Only God the Spirit can bring us to confess our unbelief, renounce our old associations of false religion, repent of what we once thought about God and bring us to truly believe on the Lord Jesus Christ rather than “another jesus.” He alone can save us from depending on all our works to trusting the crucified Christ! When He strips us of all but Christ, Oh, the light liberty in Him and the glorious covering of His righteousness! -- Pastor Gary Shepard
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). That the believer may live cheerfully and comfortably, he is exhorted to the free and constant use of Christ. O consider, Christ is given to us to be enjoyed by us! He is the bread of life. We are to feed upon Him daily. He is the water of life, which our souls are to drink of constantly. He is our righteousness. We are to put Him on continually. So then, we not only have a precious Christ, but we are also to use Him and enjoy His preciousness! He is not only a well of salvation, but we must draw water out of it with joy and drink of it to the refreshing of our souls! Deeply consider that without this inward enjoyment of Christ, you cannot be happy in your soul, comfortable in your walk, nor godly in your life. We must live by faith upon Christ so as to derive a continual supply of grace, comfort, and strength from Him! —William Mason
I am a sinner by nature, but I am a saint by grace. I have no hope or plea for that salvation which is of the Lord except Christ and Him crucified. I can truthfully say, by the witness of the Holy Spirit, "It is well with my soul." Nevertheless, though I am washed in the blood of the Lamb, and am made "the righteousness of God in Christ," I am a man who knows something about turmoil within and opposition from without. I still have many enemies against my soul. Satan stands against me; the world with all of its allurements plagues me. My own flesh is no friend to grace, to God or to the work which the Lord has begun within me. It tempts me to feel holy and good about myself due to some work I have done or some word I have spoken. I constantly need to be reminded (and the same goes for you) that, "in my flesh dwelleth no good thing...O wretched man that I am" (Romans 7:18, 24). My need today remains the same as it always has been – the continual saving and sustaining grace of God. O my brothers and sisters, let us always remember that God keeps us safe, we certainly do not keep ourselves in a state of grace. The Lord blesses us not because we are good, but because He is good; not because we are deserving, but because He is gracious. God chose me, accepts me and saves me, not upon the basis of any good that I have said, thought or done, but because of Christ, because of who He is and what He has done for me. Should the Lord leave me to myself, there is more than enough sin in me to create a thousand devils. —Pastor Jim Byrd
