A good woman likes to keep her home, and good Christians should like to keep their hearts. To keep your heart can mean many things. Certainly to keep it clean and pure. To keep it safe from sin and the world. To keep it from unholy thoughts and sinful lusts. To keep it full of Scripture truth and packed with holy and righteous desires. To keep it content and peaceful. To keep it kind and gentle. To keep it soft and tender. To keep it merciful and forgiving. To keep it near to the fountain of Christ’s blood and near to the light of His countenance. To keep it one and united in God’s fear. To keep it zealous and faithful. To keep it generous and outpouring. To keep it humble and self smiting and not self righteously critical of others. To keep it in the fear of God and in the light of God’s Word. To keep it prayerful and humbly dependent upon God.
