Some other comments on Joel Osteen's theology (or lack of it!) and methodology:
β’ "This guy IS a prosperity preacher, but he uses different slogans. So of course he tickles ears and is popular, but at the end of the day as people destroy themselves crushing their negative attitudes as this man tells them to do, he is just another legalist. And as such is in the dark, having denied the Lord.
Unless he repents he will perish. I have had enough of listening to slick salesmen like this with their magical nostrums. As I begin to become the Lord's sheep I begin to know his voice and I simply will NOT follow the likes of Osteen."
β’ "He dares to reduce the work of God to a method which we practice. He limits God's action to human effort and resolve, turning Him into a genie of the lamp which, if we rub the right way will cough up goodies perhaps of a diffent type to the common run of prosperity teachers.
And human effort is legalism, forsaking Christ to be perfected in the flesh (as said St Paul in Galatians).
Osteen is as false as they come."
β’ "The message of the cross is foolishness to the perishing but it is the power of God to those who are being saved. Too many preachers are leaving the cross and turning to psychology and inner power teaching because it is less offensive. The Apostle Paul prophesied in the last days false prophets and false teaching would come and many would follow after their pernicious ways (2 Timothy 4:3)."
