We now look at the last petition before we deal with our daily needs. This is still a very reflection of the Law of God. The hallowing of His name, the coming of the Kingdom and our seeking of it, and now we come to God's will. We are the concern now and our request is that we, in our life submit our will to God's will and live pleasing to Him God is willing and volitional and we too are volitional creatures working to the end and even the achievements we want. And the very heart of this petition is that w submit our volition (our desires and wills) to the will of God, realizing our ways are not always HIS WAYS!

The will of God is a vast and wide reaching subject. He is a willing God and determines His own will and fulfills those volitions. What He wills that He does as His good pleasure, His counsel, and He decrees ALL things. As image bearers we to have desires and take pleasure in them even though we are often times limited in what we want to do. God, however, ALWAYS accomplishes what He desires. It is good! His desires and will alone are what is good in the eyes of God as it serves God's good pleasure and His end perfectly! God determines a church and to bring it forth as part of His will and good pleasure. Why thought do we have sin, the fall, death, hell, and the cross then? It was God's good pleasure as He has willed it to His will PERIOD! Now we talk about our will and desires being the subject of God's will. But how do we do that if we don't know what God's will is? Some talk of a secret will of God and a revealed will. But God says to Abraham "why should I hide anything from you?" We know the will of God! The "blueprint" of history. He reveals His will and His secret is with us even though He does not reveal the details of our earthly pilgrims journey here below. Realize that God has already laid our day in His cousel and we must determine that will of God.

The implication: To seek the will of God is to seek the application of His will as it applies to MY LIFE! Do not be conformed to the world, but TRANSformed! God unfolds His history in our lives as we live it and we must search out His will in it. We cannot change the will of God and it is very wrong to think this. Even scripture shows us this. Was it the men who ultimately decided to crucify Him? No...it was by God's determinant counsel that wicked men took Him and crucified Him! God unfolds it in our lives without ever destroying our volitional creature. We must search out God's good pleasure and His will in our life! This is the heart and soul of this petition. We must 1- renounce our will still being in the body of this corruption and carnal in our thoughts and desires. Renounce and do not gain say God's will in us! (like a complaining child like we so often do in our murmurings.) God's way IS the BEST way! 2- Without gainsaying we do His will and bidding (as the angels in Heaven do.) THY WILL be done in MY life and in every aspect of it! We do it as God would have us do.

The result? We have a continual struggle in the body of our flesh, but rest assured we are not the only ones. Job, Jacob, Jonah, the Apostle Paul, and many others has to learn that God's way was the only and the best way. We too must submit our way to His will till we do it in perfection in glory with Him.
