Prior to this moment in time, Jesus told people “Don’t tell the miracle that I just did.” Why would He be trying to keep Himself veiled? Why didn’t He announce right away who He was? Of course, He spoke of His deity, and He spoke of being the Christ. Peter declared Him as the Christ, the Promised One, the Messiah, but these were private episodes. Why wasn’t Jesus allowing people to publicly proclaim Him as Messiah until this point?

It was not the right time. There were so many specific prophecies regarding the Messiah. Jesus was fulfilling them not just by what He did and how He did it, but He was fulfilling them at the right time. Timing is a very important part of Bible prophecy.

We see that the disciples did not get it. Later, they reflected on these events and it all made sense. I’ve seen that happen on our Israel trips - people get off the plane after a long flight, trying to take in everything the guides and pastors are saying, and it is somewhat like trying to drink from a firehose. It is too much to take in all at once.

I firmly believe that everything you’ve ever heard is there in your brain. It’s just hard to bring it to the front sometimes, but it’s there somewhere. I believe every time you hear a sermon, it’s there. One of the exciting things about being a believer is you have the Spirit of God that will bring those things to your mind just at the right time. I’ve been amazed in my life, just when I need something, the Spirit of God brings that right to my mind. It’s not an excuse to not study, but it is a truth that I’ve found over and over.
