The hymn writer, R. Robinson wrote: “Oh, to grace how great a debtor Daily I’m constrained to be!” That truth rings loud and clear with every child of God because, daily he is reminded of what he was outside of Christ. Daily he knows something of the great debt that his sin accumulated before God. Daily he is reminded of his inability to pay one cent of it. Daily he is reminded of the judgment and penalty that should have come to him for not being able to pay. Oh, but daily the kindness of God’s Holy Spirit reminds him of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ that loved him, redeemed him from all of his debt to sin, and set him free! Now he is free from every debt but one - a debt to GRACE! For the rest of his days, he will owe a debt of gratitude, and he will gladly pay that debt with the sacrifices of his lips. forever his heart will cry: “O the LOVE that sought me! O the BLOOD that bought me! O the GRACE that brought me to the fold, Wondrous GRACE that brought me to the fold!” (W. S. Walton)
