Before God puts the faith of Christ in a sinner, that sinner will look to himself to fulfill the commandments that God has given in the law of His word. That sinner will see what is required and will say within himself: “I will try to do my best and hopefully everything will work out in the end!” That is a false hope! There is no salvation in that, and it will only lead to destruction. No sinful man or woman could ever fulfill the standard of perfection that God requires to be justified in His sight. (Rom 3:19,20; Gal. 3:10,11; Gal. 4:21)
After God puts the faith of Christ in a sinner, That sinner will look to Christ! He will look to Christ for everything he needs before God! He will see what God commands in His word, and he will say within himself: “I cannot fulfill one dot of the “i” or cross of the “t”! My best is filthy rags before God! I am completely unable to satisfy the least of His commands. But Christ is able! And every work that God has required OF me, Christ has performed FOR me!” That is a true hope! That is the faith of salvation! Christ is all the perfection that we need before God, and in Him, we rest.
