There is a lot of self-promotion, but there is a danger to promotion: you start believing what is being said. Businesses are warned to not ever believe their own advertising. When you compare yourself to someone else, you’ll always find someone that you are better than. It is pointless and endless to compare yourself with other people.

True humility needs to be an honest assessment of ourselves in light of God’s holiness. That will keep us humble. It is a full understanding of holiness and sinfulness.

When I wake up in the morning and ask, “What do I deserve from God today?” the answer is eternal separation from God in a lake of fire called Hell. I’m glad that’s not the case for me because I have placed my trust in Him; He paid the penalty for my sins and I have eternal life. Eternal hell is not my destination, but that is what I deserve.
