I was lost without a hope, helpless and dead in sin,
Separated from the Lord, guilty and vile within;
But the Lord in sovereign grace, purposed to save my soul;
Sent His Son to pay my debt and make me whole.
CHORUS: Sing praise to God, sing praise to God,
For sending Jesus Christ, sing praise to God;
Sing praise to God, sing praise to God;
For sending such a Gift, sing praise to God.
Jesus came to save the lost, God’s sacrifice was He,
He redeemed us by His blood, poured out on Calvary;
What a wondrous Substitute, justice is satisfied,
Who can lay a charge against us Christ has died?
(Repeat Chorus)

“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from Him cometh my salvation. He only is my Rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.” (Psalm 62:1-2)
We will serve the Lord’s Supper following the messages today. All believers are welcome to partake of this blessed memorial ordinance. We will meet for lunch in our dining hall following the worship services. All are invited to eat with us.
How then to have our faith increased? Only by thinking of all that Jesus is, and all He is for us: His life, His death, His work, He Himself as revealed to us in the Word, to be the subject of our constant thoughts. Not a striving to have faith, or to increase our faith, but a looking off to the Faithful One seems all we need; a resting in the Loved One entirely, for time and for eternity. It does not appear to me as anything new, only formerly misapprehended. —Copied
THE CONSCIENCE PURGED
When the Holy Spirit shows us the necessity, the beauty and the sufficiency of the death of Christ, we repent of our own foolish works of self-righteousness, we forsake every other way of seeking to please God, we look to Christ and His substitutionary death as the only ground of our acceptance with God and our conscience rests in the quiet assurance that Christ has satisfied God on our behalf and saved us in a way that glorifies God in all His holy character. Thus the “blood” purges our consciences of every false hope, of natural self-righteousness, and all fear and doubt! —Pastor Gary Shepard
“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:19-22)
CHRIST IS MY WORTHINESS!
“For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till He come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup” (1 Corinthians 11:26-28).
It is not for us to put a fence around the Lord’s Supper so as to make sure that those who eat and drink are qualified to do so. Our task is to preach the Gospel of God’s free and sovereign grace in Christ Jesus showing that no sinner is worthy in and of himself for salvation or any of the blessings and privileges of salvation. Our only worthiness (qualification) for salvation, to claim, and/or to participate in any of these blessings and privileges is our standing in the Lord Jesus Christ – WORTHY IS THE LAMB THAT WAS SLAIN! So we urge each one who partakes of this blessed ordinance to do what the Lord commands – “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.” How are we to examine ourselves? The legalist says, “Examine yourself to see if there is any sin in your life.” The problem is that there is always sin in our lives (Rom. 7:14-24). Someone else may say, “But is there any sin that you have not repented of?” Well, what about sins of omission, sins that we do not know, for nothing we do equals the righteousness that God requires for salvation. Is this not sin? Yes! But should we not repent of all our sins? Yes, we should, and we do when we confess to our heavenly Father that nothing we are in ourselves and nothing we do is worthy of His favor and blessings. Our only hope is Christ, His precious redeeming blood to wash away our sins, and His righteousness imputed to justify us before God. We are sinners saved by GRACE, and grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life BY JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD (Rom. 5:21). CHRIST IS MY WORTHINESS, and this is what the Lord’s Supper is all about. Now, examine yourself. Is this the Gospel you believe and by which you live your life? If not, then please do not take this supper, for to do so is to take it “unworthily,” condemning yourself because you do not understand what it is all about (1 Cor. 11:27, 29). But if this is your true and only hope, then eat of this bread and drink of this cup rejoicing in the Lord and the merits of His worthiness on your behalf (1 Cor. 11:26).
