HYMN OF THE DAY

Drawn of God

Jeremiah 31:3

Christ drew me with His cords of love.

His hand reached down for me.

From everlasting, from above,

He set His love on me.

John 6:44

The Father drew me to His Son.

He will not cast me out.

New life in Christ; salvation's done;

This ends my fear and doubt.

John 12:32

Christ said, "If I be lifted up,

I'll draw all men to me."

For me He took that bitter cup;

Purged my sin on that tree.

How could the Lord love this sinner?

His love amazes me!

That He would be my Redeemer:

In love He's all my plea.

Tune: At The Cross, pg. #129 (no chorus)
by: Gary Spreacker

CONTENT WITH THE LORD

I was just reading about Fanny Crosby. Although she was born blind, she never complained nor did she ever even regret being born that way. When she was eight years old she wrote these words:

Oh, what a happy soul am I!

Although I cannot see,

I am resolved that in this world

Contented I will be.

How many blessings I enjoy

That other people don’t;

To weep and sigh because I’m blind,

I cannot, and I won’t.

A preacher once said to Miss Crosby, “I think it is a great pity that the Master, when He showered so many gifts upon you, did not give you sight.” She answered right back, “Do you know that if at birth I had been able to make one petition to my Creator, it would have been that I should be born blind?” “Why?” The preacher asked. “Because when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior.” She replied. Fanny Crosby wrote a song entitled, “My Savior First of All.” It goes like this:

“When my life work is ended and I cross the swelling tide,

when the bright and glorious morning I shall see,

I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side,

and His smile will be the first to welcome me.

O the soul thrilling rapture when I view His blessed face

and the luster of His kindly beaming eye;

How my full heart will praise Him for the mercy, love and grace

that prepared for me a mansion in the sky.”

We often talk about being content in Christ and thank God for it. But for grace to be perfectly content with Christ and to be anxious about nothing else as long as we possess Him and this good hope of being with Him and like Him. - Bruce Crabtree

Brother Scott Richardson once wrote, — “I defy anyone to find a solitary text of Scripture in the New Testament that uses the law to motivate, inspire, regulate, or even guide the believer. Believers are motivated by love, inspired by gratitude, regulated by grace, and guided by the Holy Spirit. The whole Word of God, the complete revelation of His will is our law. Our lives are governed by love, not by fear. We walk by faith, not by legislation. We walk in the Spirit, not in the flesh (Romans 8:9-14; Galatians 3:3).”

MY GRACE IS:

The work which God gives into the hands of his pastors is God's work. The work he gives into the hands of his witnesses is God's work. The Sovereign of heaven and earth will soon discover this to us through enemies which he has foreordained that we face. We will face some who appear so full of light that if it were possible they would deceive even the elect of God. Yet God will expose them to be enemies of the righteousness of God and he will conquer them before us. There will be times when some within will depart from us and break our hearts. But God will use those things to reveal to us that there is absolutely no sufficiency in us for this work. He is not depending upon the strength of men; he teaches us not to depend upon men, not even those who profess to trust him. We love our brethren, we receive one another without doubting, but we are to look only to Christ. Our strength is the grace of our God alone (2 Co. 12:9). - Clay Curtis
