The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.Psalm 11:5-7
Take Your Burdens to Lord and Leave them There
I am trying to learn what I have attempted to teach – that we are to take our burdens, cares, anxieties, and needs to the Lord and LEAVE THEM THERE. Instead of worrying and fretting myself about all the things that concern this church, television, missionaries, conferences, personalities, and a dozen other things, I need to pray about them, do what God enables me to do, and leave it all at His feet.
If those works are not His work, then let them all go to pieces! If they are His work, then He will attend to them and bless them. It is wonderful how smoothly things go when we trust the Lord; our worrying and fretting cause the problems. When we come here to worship, pray, preach, and fellowship, everyone is lifted, our burdens are laid down, and we find sweet rest in Christ. But, when we leave the services, we seem to say, “I have left my burden inside; I’d better go and take it up again.”
This is NOT the way to TRUST GOD! The way to trust Him is to take our burdens to Him and LEAVE THEM THERE!

“Nevertheless”
“Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known” (Psalm 106:8).
“Nevertheless!” What a glorious summary of the gospel in one word! Every soul that God chose to save was completely ruined by sin; “Nevertheless!” They were ignorant of the True and Living God, ungrateful for all of His loving provisions, and rebellious toward His Word; “Nevertheless!” They were not owed and did not deserve His affection and favor; “Nevertheless!” They craved the things of this sinful world, and rejected the beauty and holiness of Christ; “Nevertheless!” In their flesh they added no glory TO Him, and could not glory IN Him; “Nevertheless!” For the rest of their days on this earth they will constantly be beggars, begging Him to supply all of their needs, both physical and spiritual; “Nevertheless HE…(The Lord Jesus Christ) saved THEM… (every soul that God chose to immerse in the Blood of Christ)! Why would He do that? “For His name’s sake.” Call His name Jesus, because that’s WHO He is and WHAT He accomplished - He saved His people from their sins… “That He might make His mighty power to be known.”

A Great Need, A Great Christ
I have a great need for Christ, because I am a guilty sinner deserving of His just wrath, for the wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23).
I have a great Christ provided for all my need (Phil 4:19). The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Rom.6:23). Everything God demands of the sinner is abundantly and eternally supplied in Christ (1 Cor. 1:30).
Where sin abounded grace does much more abound (Rom. 5:20)!
Of His fullness have we all received grace for grace (John 1:16)!
Lord, Don’t Leave Us Alone
“And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God “ (Mark 1:23-24).
When the Lord Jesus went among the people preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, the people in the synagogue were astonished at His doctrine, for He taught them with authority. They did not recognize, acknowledge nor confess His person as God the Son, but they were amazed at His words. What is most remarkable the "unclean spirit," knew exactly Who He was and confessed that Jesus Christ is the, "Holy One of God." The demon spirit also confessed he was deserving of God's righteous judgment, "art thou come to destroy us." The demon spirit also cried out and said, "Let us alone; what have we to do with thee."
The believer's cry before the Lord is similar, yet completely different. We, by His grace do confess that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour (Phi. 2:9-11), but not only acknowledging His Lordship over us, but we willingly submit to Him and love Him supremely (1Pet.2:7). We say with Thomas, Jesus Christ is, "My Lord and my God" (John 20:28).
Believers also confess they are deserving of God's righteous judgment against our sin and plead for mercy (Psa. 51: 1-4; Luke 18:13-14). Our plea before the Lord is, don't leave us alone , we need thee every hour in every way. We need Thee, to be Surety and Sacrifice for us (Heb. 7:22), Mediator representing us (1Tim. 2:5), Advocate pleading for us (1John 2:1), Captain guiding and fighting for us (Heb. 2:10), Redeemer delivering us (Heb. 2:14-17), Great High Priest interceding for us (Heb. 4:14-16), the Chief, Great, and Good Shepherd providing all things for us (Psalm 23:1-4; Phil. 4:19).
This is the Lord's unwavering and steadfast promise to His covenant people that, He never will leave us. "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Heb. 13:5). What sweet comfort this affords the believer! As one old writer put it, "The Lord Jesus Christ freely gives us all grace now and all glory hereafter" (Rom. 8:32).
