Did you know when crops like soybeans and corn get too much rain, they can become especially vulnerable? When we hear of crops receiving a lot of rain, we often think that will make them grow stronger, not weaker. But that is not always the case.

The more rain crops receive, the weaker they will be if a drought hits. Since the plants do not have to push their roots deep down to find water, the roots remain near the surface. A drought would find the plants unprepared and would quickly kill them because of their weak root system.

We as believers need to be careful because this concept applies to us as well. Many of us are blessed with the constant “rains” of preaching, teaching, and fellowship, but when hard times enter our lives, we are not prepared to face them. As our Scripture passage tells us, we need to be deeply rooted in Christ through our personal study of His Word.
