THY FACE, LORD, WILL I SEEK! âBlessed are they that keep His testimonies, And that seek Him with the whole heart.â Psalm 119:2 I would never discourage a person from applying themselves to every legitimate means that would convey the Gospel of the Grace of God to their hearts. I would encourage any man or woman to put their soul and the souls of their children under the purest form of the Gospel possible. Our sins and an awareness of them should never keep us away from the Church (any assembly where the Gospel of Godâs Grace is contended for). I say the greater awareness of the soulâs sin-sickness the greater the need of the health restoring medicine of the Gospel. We are bid in the scripture to seek the face of our creator, âSeek ye my face.â It is our duty to do so, âThy face Lord will I seek.â Our Creator maintains our existence every hour with His sustaining power, thus renewing our obligation. As I preach my heart breaks for poor lost souls that might sit before me. I try with all my might to get the point across, especially to the younger people, that without the sustaining power of God we would go back to our nothingness, our bodies would return to the dust and our spirits would expire. Then what? I ask. God in His omnipotence keeps us from day to day; we are dependent upon our Preserver. Every day is another opportunity by which we are obligated to âseek His face.â The daily debtor should cheerfully reply, âThy face, Lord, will I seek.â The commands of God are always good and reasonable and it must be the duty of the creature to obey them. If it were possible for the Most High to command anything unrighteous or unreasonable, the question of His claims might be raised. But since what the Word of God commands is always best to our interest, at once the wisest and best thing that we could possibly to do is to obey. It is the duty of a rational and intelligent being to follow the wise, loving and tender counsels of the great God, and when He bids him seek His face, he should readily answer, âThy face, Lord, will I seek.â There is âa balm in Gileadâ that heals the sin-sick soul, and that balm is Christ. By all means gather at the place that gathers around the Gospel, be there at every opportunity; Sundays, Wednesday nights, special meetings; keep your children under the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. But keep in mind that it is not the activity of your church-going that shall save your soul, it is Christ in the Gospel, and Christ alone. A sinner is accepted for Christ sake only as he comes to God by faith and repentance. Mothers and Dads, talk of this to your children. I believe it is through the clear exposition of scripture that the Spirit makes a person sensible to the curse of sin and its cure, Christ. Therefore go to the place where the scripture has preeminence in its ministry and may the Lord of salvation bless it the saving of your souls and those of your household.
