O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake. Psalm 6:1-4
On Sunday, May 6th we will observe the Lord’s Table and enjoy lunch together.
Sovereign Grace and the Great Commission
Those who are elected to life in Christ shall be saved; “All that the Father giveth to Me shall come to me” (John 6:37), but they shall be brought to Christ in genuine repentance and faith by God’s Spirit through the means He has appointed – THE PREACHING OF THE GOSPEL! (1 Cor. 1:21).
A belief in sovereign grace that discourages prayer for sinners, witnessing, and a sincere command for all men to bow to Christ NOW and to receive Him as Lord and Saviour is not of the Lord and is heresy.
I urge, persuade, and beseech you to be reconciled to God, for “He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”
Pastor Henry T. Mahan (1984 Bulletin)
Our Safeguard
“And the blood shall be to you a token upon the houses where ye are, and when I see the blood I will pass over you.” (Exodus 12:13).
The blood speaks of death. Here it speaks of the death of the Substitute. After the Israelite sprinkled blood on the two side posts and over the head of the door, he went inside and shut the door. He did not see the blood anymore, for the blood was outside upon the doorpost and he inside. Was he safe? Yes, because it is written that when God saw the blood, he would pass over his people. It is God’s sight of the blood of his dear Son that is the everlasting safeguard. Though the night was dark and the Israelites could not see the blood, thanks be unto God, he saw and they were safe. It is the perfection of the sacrifice, not our perfection of sight, which makes us safe. It is the absence of all blemishes from the Sacrifice, not the absence of blemish of our faith that makes us safe and accepted in the Beloved.

Him Book
The Book of God is a “Him Book.” It’s all about Him. The Old Testament says, “The Redeemer is coming.” The four Gospels declare, “The Redeemer has come.” Acts and the Epistles tell us, “The Redeemer has accomplished all that the law and prophets said he would accomplish.” The Revelation proclaims, “The Redeemer is coming again,” assuring us of the sure triumph of the Redeemer over all his foes.
Pastor Don Fortner
“And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever: 23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.” Gen 3:22-23
I believe there was something about the tree of life, in the midst of the garden, that if Adam had eaten, he would not have physically died, but would have lived forever in sin and rebellion. When God said Adam would “live forever” God was not talking about Eternal Life, for Eternal Life is a person, Jesus Christ, 1John1:2. Adam would have lived forever in the flesh, in rebellion.
Eating of the tree of life, which was only a type would not put away Adams guilt or give him spiritual life or satisfy God’s broken law. We know there is no spiritual life in any of the types of our Lord.
The only way sin and guilt can be put away is by the death of the second Adam, Jesus Christ. The only way the broken law can be satisfied is by the obedience of the second Adam, Jesus Christ. The only way the elect can be redeemed is by the person and work of Jesus Christ, who knew no sin.
Therefore, God put Cherubims and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. Gen 3:24.
God would not allow Adam to use the tree of life for an evil purpose as he did the tree of knowledge of good and evil. At this point Adam only cared about living forever, just as people today want to live forever no matter how sinful they are. Eternal life is more than living forever, it is to know God, to be one with God in Christ. John 17:3. And that can only be obtained by the second Adam, Jesus Christ. John 14:6.
