The invitation arrives in an official-looking envelope from the White House. You open it to find an engraved invitation to an official state dinner with the President of the United States. Eagerly anticipating the event, you purchase the finest clothing you can afford and arrive at the appointed hour. To your dismay, the staff at the door tells you that your invitation is no good - “Everyone is invited, but we choose in advance who gets to come in.”

In some ways, that is what some people teach regarding salvation, that God chose in advance who He would save and allow into Heaven. No one likes to talk about what that means on the flipside - that He also chooses who must spend an eternity in Hell without a chance of ever being saved.

The good news is that God invites everyone to be saved, and “...whosoever will…” may receive eternal life. It is the greatest invitation: “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son; that whosoever…” The greatest invitation is extended to the greatest amount of people, anyone, anywhere, anytime, can be saved. You can share the good news of eternal life with anyone, without having to worry that you are witnessing to the wrong person.

Since the greatest invitation is offered to everyone, that leaves us with the responsibility of sharing that invitation. We need to be diligent in sharing the Gospel.
