Throughout my years of ministry, I’ve been privileged to meet a lot of people. Some were very famous politicians; others were famous preachers and teachers. One of these famous people was someone who I happen to share a birthday with - President George W. Bush. It was quite the privilege to spend some time talking with him.

Though I’ve met and spent time with a sitting United States President, I would not necessarily call myself a personal friend of the President. I can, however, say that I am the friend of someone far more important and powerful than the President of the United States. Scripture tells me that I am the friend of God. Friend, the moment you place your trust in Christ as your Savior, you are called the friend of God.

We’ve all had friends who were too busy for us at one time or another. However, God is unlimited in His power. He looks on each of us as if we’re the only people on earth. In spite of all the people in the world praying to Him, He hears each prayer and knows what each of us is going through. This powerful fact should get us excited.

He is the friend who sticks closer than a brother. He will never leave us or forsake us. Can you say this about your earthly friends? Oh, we may have some very good earthly friends, but none of those friends loves us at all times or laid down their lives for us.

The fact that we are the friend of God should get us excited. The next time you are feeling down or lonely, remember that you have the best Friend of all!
