Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:10-12
Call Him LORD
I notice that few preachers and writers use the expression “OUR LORD JESUS” or “THE LORD JESUS.” It is “Jesus said this” and “Jesus did that” or “Jesus died and rose again.” Brethren, HE IS THE LORD – HE IS THE LIVING GOD!
We need to acknowledge His deity, His dominion, and His divine anointing! He is “God over all, blessed forever” and we can never praise Him too much, speak too reverently of Him, or give Him a high title which He does not deserve.
You may feel that I am straining at a gnatbut I sincerely do not think so. As for this preacher and this congregation, He is our LORD JESUS CHRIST and I shall continue to discourage any over-familiarity or lack of reverence for His person and work.
“Ye call me LORD and ye say well, for so I am.” And I urge all who use His glorious name, even in conversation, to use it most reverently and with full honors!

THE ONLY LASTING POSSESSION
“Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly” (Job 1:20-22).
Job was the greatest man in the east. Yet, his greatness was not in his possessions or even in his family. His true riches was his union with Christ in spirit and truth! Christ is our only lasting possession. Material things are not. (Eccl 5:15; 12:7) The rich man and the poor man may never possess the same in this life but they will both leave exactly the same, with not one earthly possession. So then what possession should we spend our time to obtain in this life? God never teaches his children to seek power, position, and possessions. God says those things pierce us through with many arrows. Rather, God teaches us to seek Christ and his righteousness and whatever else we really need God will provide. Christ is the only lasting possession to those who have him. God’s word is forever! His righteousness is forever! Eternal life is forever! Seek Christ!

God Is
God is light. God is life. God is eternal. God is holy. God is just. God is gracious. God is merciful. God is love. God is immutable. God is incomprehensible. God is our Savior. God is Jesus Christ. Hallelujah what a Savior. Pastor John Chapman
JESUS CHRIST HAS PREVAILED
“So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David” (1 Sam. 17:50).
“And one of the elders saith unto me, weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof” (Rev. 5:5).
David prevailed over Goliath, and won the victory for all Israel. David went out to meet him as a representative man, when David prevailed Israel prevailed. What David accomplished, Israel accomplished.
What a true picture of the greater David, the Lord Jesus Christ. He came onto the battlefield being sent of God as David did; (1 Sam. 17:17-18; Gal. 4:4). The Lord Jesus Christ came as our Great High Priest to represent us unto God, to do for us what we could not do for ourselves (Heb. 4:14-16). As the representative Man, as the God-Man Mediator (1 Tim. 2:5), the Lord Jesus Christ has prevailed over all our spiritual enemies. Because He has won the battle for us; because He has won the complete victory, every believer is victorious in Him. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”(1 Cor. 15:57).
David completely defeated Goliath alone, in the name of God, for the glory of God, (1 Sam. 17:47-49). Even so, our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, with and by Himself, has put away our sin by the sacrifice of Himself; “having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them (Himself) in it”(Col. 2:15).
Our salvation was completely accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ alone (John 17:1-5). He did not need our assistance nor did He ask for it. The record of scripture is clear on this fact. The Lord Jesus Christ brought in everlasting righteousness for us and freely imputes that unto us (Dan. 9:24; Rom. 4:6-8). The Lord Jesus Christ made complete atonement for our sin with His own blood sacrifice (Heb. 1:3; 9:11-12).
Is it any wonder that the eternal song of glory is unto the Lamb of God that has prevailed, “worthy is the Lamb” (Rev. 1:5-6; 5:9-14)?
