The God Who Never Messes Up - Dr. James A. Scudder

Today's Scripture: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

As part of the admissions procedure in the hospital, a receptionist would ask the patients if they were allergic to anything. If they were, she printed it on an allergy band placed on the patients’ wrists. One day, when she asked an elderly woman if she had any allergies, the woman said she couldn't eat bananas.

Several hours later, an irate son came out to the nurses' station demanding, "Who's responsible for labeling my mother 'Bananas'?"

These mix-ups happen every day. We are human and fallible. And yet, we have a God Who never gets confused or forgets one of His children. He knows everything and understands what you’re going through today.

Has this been one of those days for you? You forgot to close your garage door. Or maybe you were late to work because you forgot to fill up your car with gas on the way home last night. Maybe you wore one black shoe and one brown shoe or your washing machine overflowed. Perhaps you didn’t know the answers to half of your test questions or someone said a cruel remark right to your face.

Whatever your circumstance, remember your God. He loves you and holds you in the palm of His hand. He is bigger than anything you will ever face. This is sometimes difficult to remember, but if you manage to keep it in mind, your day is sure to go a whole lot better.

Devotional by Dr. James A. Scudder
