By now it has been just over a month since we celebrated Christmas. There is a good probability that the sheen and newness has worn off from many of the gifts we gave and received at Christmas. That new phone or tablet probably doesn’t have the same appeal as it did when you saw it in an advertisement.

The things of this earth fade and lose their value, but for the redeemed Child of God, there is one thing that should never lose value. The blood of Christ should become more and more precious to us each day. It was His blood that was shed to redeem us from the curse of sin and death. The blood of Christ should be more precious to us than gold or silver.

We were not redeemed by the things of earth that corrupt and decay. We were not redeemed by the empty traditions of man. All the world’s silver and gold could not purchase even one second in Heaven.

What impact should this have on our daily living? The high cost of salvation should inspire us to live in holiness. It should motivate us to live our lives for the One Who shed His precious blood for us. When faced with temptation, we need to remember the price that was paid to purchase our redemption. Our Lord gave everything for us; let us give everything for Him!
