"Choosing Reproach" Exodus 2 & Hebrews 11:24-26 We continue looking at the heroes of faith....witnesses to us! By faith Moses parents were married and had a baby even amidst the drowning of baby boys in the Nile river. Ultimately leaving pleasures and treasures of the land to cast his lot with God's people. You can find no better picture of Christ!
After Joseph was put in his casket, things had deteriorated very quickly when Pharaoh came to power. (God had prospered them from approximately 70000- 2 million souls.) Pharaoh wanted to contain God's people but he underestimated God's blessing and God prospered His people amidst the great bondage in Egypt at Pharaoh's hand. When Moses comes to years, he casts his lot with God and His people over all the great riches of the world at his disposal. God gave Moses ALL of the riches of the land of Egypt that were raised in the den of Satan with all the pleasures at his disposal and then there was the side of God's people who were at odds with Pharaoh and his anti Christian kingdom.
Moses' cast his lot with the people of God even being premature when he kills the Egyptian man. Moses understood all the pictures and saw all the promises of God and weighed his position against his treasures and the pleasures of this life and STILL chose to cast his lot with the people of God! There were no limitations to what Moses could have had in Pharaoh's house....yet he understood in forsaking them that it was for the reproach of Christ. You choose Christ and they will hate you. Persecute you, and have no use for you! The saints laid down their very lives for the reproach of Christ and the blood of the saints runs throughout all of Scripture. Moses forsook everything and cast it aside! Why?
By faith he had recompense to the reward he had in Christ and he respected and honored it! Do we do that? Do we see it and make it our one in all, which is the reward of grace with a clear, unclouded vision that our children even see it in us at all times?! Then we live like Moses. Reproach and even death, but it doesn't matter. These things do not hold a candle to the streets of gold!!!
Do we see it? Do we have respect to it? Moses did. Then, and then only will we seek that city with foundations and will gladly take the reproach of Christ for our place that God has for us....even prepares for us in Glory!
