I actually began recording my messages because I had been suffering from a still undiagnosed illness whereas one of the symptoms is a short-term memory loss. This is unusual for I once had a photographic memory.
I thought it might be a good idea to record the messages so that I could hear them later, to ensure that I wasn't becoming an unhealthy heretic through this illness. Then SermonAudio came along and we decided to place these messages on the Internet. Hey, I'm not the most polished preacher around, but we believed that God would have us make the messages available for our little congregation here at the edge of the world.
I had trouble coming up with a message all week for Luke 5:1-11. I'd start and realize that that wasn't what God wanted. Finally, Sunday came and I still had no real message for the evening service except for this disturbance in the depths of my soul concerning the Word of God.
As I listened to the message tonight, it seemed to me that it just kind of jumped around... it was really a rather goofy message... or more accurately, it was like two dozen different messages loosely connected to one another. Yet, as the message was concluding, I realized that God was using different parts of that message (or messages) to reach different people tonight. Oh, what a glorious God we serve. God knows... He knows.
