We are home from Russia, Nigeria and Cameroon and enjoying a short break with family and friends before our return. As we look forward to the year 2018, we have before us Macedonian calls from churches and ministries in Russia and Africa.
Because of the expansion of the ministry of Grace Community International, we are asking God for an increase of $2,000.00 in monthly support received. This need arises for three reasons – First: Our ministry continues to increase and with increased ministry responsibilities comes an increase in need for finances. Secondly: We have been involved in full time, faith based ministry since 1976. A number of our early donors are now retired, infirm or in some cases have gone to be with the Lord and have needed to change their giving budgets. It is now necessary for us to raise up new support to cover the gap created by this natural aging of our donor population. Last but not least, certain aspects of our budget have mushroomed over the last year. The primary cause of this has been a large increase in our insurance and the rising cost of international travel. These three events have intersected, all in the same year, to cause us to need to raise new support. (This does not include a salary increase, which has remained the same over the last ten years.) This past year the church has been built up, families established on a Biblical foundation, and ministers supplied with Bibles and tools for their ministry. Your gifts made this possible.
It may be that you are unable to give on a monthly basis. If that is the case, please consider a one-time gift to cover the ministry needs of 2018 • $1,000 for Bibles, Bible reference works and Bible study aids for each city in which we will be ministering during 2018 - for a total of $11,000. • $12,250.00 for airfare and internal travel (train, bus, etc.) and for room/board while on these trips… 1. Summer Africa Mission Venture to Cameroon and Nigeria (a total of seven cities) - $7,500 2. Russia (St. Petersburg, Pushkin, Pavlosk and Tyumen) - $4,750 • The total amount needed to meet this need is $23,250.
It is our desire to see this need met, so that we can make firm commitments to these ministries. This year has been no different from past years when, upon arriving, we have found that teams from other organizations or churches have canceled due to world situations or increased travel prices. We have heard more than once this year: “You are the only ones who came.” By God’s grace and your faith, no missionary or national pastor, to whom we have been called to minister, will be left on his own in 2018.
