This topic could also be called Sanctified Living. This, with every doctrine is part of our BASIC living. This is tantamount to salvation and there is no salvation for those who walk as the world. What do we mean by conversion?
We often hear the word conversion. It means crucifying the old man and putting on the new man. Many speak of conversion as the moment they were converted to the Lord (and there is nothing wrong with that with Biblical proof of this.) Many can point you to the point in their life (mission fields are great examples of this.) Scripture also speaks of DAILY conversion. God affects salvation upon me. We come to a systematic knowledge as we are under the Word of God. Daily conversion is sanctified living! God regenerates us giving us living faith and that spiritual life takes to heart the truth under the Word and our life becomes of service and gratitude to God and requires DAILY conversion. That converted Christian struggles with his flesh and now must involve himself with daily conversion as the Holy Spirit works though us and sanctifies and leads us in a new and holy life. Ephesians 4:21ff. Colossians 3:4ff. That is why we have a struggle in our life and why the world has no struggle in their lives (other than with the consequences of sin.)
We have the power of the Holy Spirit within us that seeks God, but our body of our flesh that does NOT seek God but goes after and has his head to the world. The new man is grieved by the old man as we are warned not to lay up for the flesh. This is the struggle and a way and part and parcel of our daily living. And the Word of God admonishes us to CRUCIFY the old man so that we may NOT yield our members to the flesh! We are delivered in Christ from sin and are also delivered from the POWER of sin. We don't have to yield and make provision for sin and the power of sin is NOT stronger that the Holy Spirit within us. This means both sorrow and joy. Sorry for our sin as it bothers us. Do we experience joy and rejoice in spiritual things and are they a joy to us?! That's what it means to be a Christian! We can often deceive ourselves on what it pleasing and what is not when it should be dictated by God and His Word which is the ONLY standard in our life.
Daily conversion. Sanctified living. There is fruit as a result. It will then be fruitful walking in God's precepts as we CULTIVATE Holy living in that new man in Christ!
