Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit. He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage. Proverbs 26:4-6
On Sunday, Aug. 6th we plan to observe the Lord’s Table and enjoy lunch together.
The King’s Highway
Never a PRAYER ascended to God save through the Lord Jesus Christ. Never has a BLESSING come down to man save through the same Divine Mediator. There is now a HIGHWAY OF HOLINESS on which the redeemed can walk with God and God can come to us.
The King’s highway is Jesus Christ – the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). I urge you to believe on and trust in the Lord Jesus. The reason why we cannot come to God except through Christ is that, though God is love, mercy, and grace, we are unholy and impure. His holy eye cannot endure iniquity. God is just and His justice cannot tolerate sin. Therefore, we must have a God-appointed advocate. That advocate is His own well-beloved Son, who is our wisdom, righteousness, redemption, and sanctification. Sinner, come to God in Christ! Come and welcome!

SALVATION BY WHOSE WORK?
False religion would have us believe that Christ died for all men so the sinner must do something to make Christ’s sacrifice effectual for them. That doctrine is heresy that makes salvation depend at least in part upon the work of man. The holy scriptures make plain that none of man’s works ever contribute anything to salvation. “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” (Galatians 2:16).
Salvation is the work of God only. The salvation of a sinner is a work ordained by God the Father in eternity, worked out by God the Son when He came in the flesh, and applied by God the Holy Spirit in the new birth. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Titus 3:5).
Sinner, if you would be saved there is one thing you must do. You must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. But don’t confuse faith for a work of man. No man by nature can believe God. Faith is a gift God gives His people. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8).

Our Assemblies
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25).
By God’s all-wise appointment, our assemblies are the life, the food, and the nourishment of our souls. It is the main way whereby we publicly identify with Christ and His Gospel. We evidence our love for Christ by our loyalty and support of one another in opposition to all false worship. Many things will rise up in competition to the diligent attendance of our assemblies. We must recognize and refuse to give in to anything that is opposed to what Christ commands. The total falling away of a graceless professor always begins with this neglect, the disassociation with God’s people.

“WHOM”
All error (false faith) is evidenced when a person is trusting in and clinging to a “What.” True, saving faith believes: “WHOM!” The apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:12“for I know WHOM I have believed!”
Baptism - is a “what.”
Walking down an aisle - is a “what.”
Giving your heart - is a “what.”
Making a decision - is a “what.”
Abstaining from certain foods or drinks - is a “what.”
A certain standard of morality - is a “what.”
But if a sinner ever sees “WHOM!” If a sinner ever sees CHRIST! That sinner will stop looking at every “what” that the law presents to him, and he will cry: “I know WHOM I have believed, and am persuaded that HE IS ABLE to keep that which I have committed unto HIM against that day!”

BE CONTENT WITH SUCH THINGS AS YOU HAVE
“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. (Hebrews 13:5-6).
We are instructed in the scriptures to be content with the things God has been pleased to graciously give us, "Having food and raiment let us be therewith content"(1Tim. 6:8). A covetous and grumpy spirit is unbecoming in a believer and will only grieve your heart. "Be content with such things as you have" (Heb. 13:5-6). I ask myself and you this question. What things do we have? God has sovereignly given to every believer, Himself, "I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one" (John 17:23). When we consider that the Almighty God, possessor of all things is our Heavenly Father who cares for our soul, and provides all things for us, what peace and comfort this should afford us. Having Him we have all things, "Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours" (1 Cor. 3:20). So then, let us take this scriptural advice, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matt.6:33). "They that seek the Lord shall not want for any good thing" (Psalm 34:10). This lesson is not something we learn by intellect nor instantly, but through hearing the word of God constantly and receiving it by God wrought faith. Listen to the Apostle, "I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content" (Phil. 4:11).
