Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
Isaiah 41:10, 14
On Sunday, Feb. 5, we plan to observe the Lord’s Table and have lunch together.
Today Is The Day Of Salvation
2 Cor. 6:2
It is one thing to "wait on the Lord” (Psalm 27:14) in matters of providence, trial, and decisions regarding our plans and purposes. But the command to repent and believe on Christ is in the imperative! It is "NOW is the accepted time, TODAY is the day of salvation." Someone may say, "But I want to be sure." You can be sure that you are a guilty sinner, that you have no ability to justify yourself before God, that God sent His Son to save, that He is a sufficient Savior, and that not to believe this gospel is to make God a liar and presume on His patience! Walk in THE LIGHT YOU HAVE, look to Christ now and confess what faith you have depending on Him to give you more faith.
Pastor Henry T. Mahan (1982)
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.(Romans 8.18).
What encouraging words to us these are: our sufferings, no matter how severe or constant they may be, are not even worthy to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed in us. Every pain, every hurt, every tear shall find more than a mere equal of glory in the world to come. No! multiplied weight of glory shall be bestowed upon the sufferer such that it would seem an unworthy calculation to measure the suffering by which it came.
And if this precious promise is ours, can we think for a moment it does not apply to the Chief Sufferer of all! Shall He receive glory exceeding even the unimaginable suffering through which He passed! Yes, He shall and we are glad for Him to have it. Dear Brothers and Sisters, I cannot imagine the glory that shall be revealed in us. But just as I would not think to compare our suffering with His, so can I not even begin to conceive what sort of glory is His, for as His suffering exceeds ours, so shall His glory be so far above ours.
No wonder all of heaven gives the “Amen” to His glory (Revelation 5.14) and so do we! "The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation." Psalm 18.46 - Pastor Joseph Terrell
CALEB AND JOSHUA
“For the LORD had said of them, they shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun” (Numbers 26:65).
Caleb and Joshua were among the twelve men who went into the land of Canaan to spy out the land and people and bring the report to Moses (Num. 13:17). Ten men brought an evil and unbelieving report, they said, "We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we (Num. 13:31). God gave the nation forty years in the wilderness for their unbelief (Num.14:28-35).
Caleb and Joshua believed God and said, "Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it" (Num.13: 30). None that were numbered among the men from age twenty and older entered into the promise land with exception of Caleb (the faithful dog) and Joshua (the faithful Saviour). This is another glorious picture of the gospel of Christ. None will enter into glory but the Saviour and those sinners (dogs) for whom He died (Rom. 5:5-9). Christ the forerunner has entered in for us and every believer will enter upon His merits alone (Heb. 6:18-20).
However, there is another picture of the gospel here. The scripture says of both Caleb and Joshua that they had another spirit (Num. 14:24; 27:18). It was not the spirit and attitude of unbelief, but that spirit of faith that honors and glorifies God. It is said of Abraham, "He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God" (Rom. 4:20-21). Something else is also said of Caleb and Joshua, "they have wholly followed the LORD" (Num. 32:12). Faith and conduct cannot be separated. One preacher of the past said, "Faith is the mother of obedience." Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ puts another spirit and attitude in the sinner, that spirit of love, obedience, devotion, hope and confidence in the Lord (Gal.5: 22; Phil.1: 6; 2:13; 3:3). It is right and commendable for every believer to fully and wholly follow the Lord with an undivided heart (Col. 3:1), unbridled spirit (John 4:24), unwavering commitment (2 Tim. 1:12), unbroken addiction (1Cor. 16:15) and uninterrupted dependence upon the gospel of the Lord Christ (Phil.3:7-9 4:13). Our Lord said, "Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it" (Mark 8:34-35).
