“Witnesses?” Are you kidding me?
From Orwell’s 1984, this apt quote:
“Whatever the Party holds to be truth, IS truth…2 + 2 = 5 if the Party says so.”
The Party. Speaking of Communism. How appropriate is a comparison of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society to godless communism? Very appropriate. They both involve:
- A false dogma that denigrates the Doctrine of God in the Holy Scriptures
- False men proclaiming that false dogma
- The expectation of unquestioned loyalty.
- Exclusion and humiliation as the price of non-conformity to their wishes and views.
- Financial privilege and power in the hands of a few.
It fits. And so does the comparison with Medieval Romanism, Mormonism, Islam. Wherever the Enemy takes mass control of the minds of entire communities or nations, evil is the result.
“Watchman, what of the night?” says the inquirer of Isaiah. Stand in yon tower and tell us the situation of our world and our beloved church.
This is the task the so-called Jehovah’s Witnesses gladly take to themselves. With their Bible (as in the New World Translation, not your Bible) and their background in hand they tell in every generation their version of the truth, and millions believe them, thinking they are hearing from Heaven, when in fact they are listening to deceiving spirits.
We need others to go into that tower, see from God’s Book the only perspective that matters, and announce what they see and what God sees, to contradict the “witnesses.” (You will note that I nearly always place “witnesses” in quotes during this report. I simply cannot say the word without wincing, when referring to them.
I hate every false way. (Psalm 119:104 and 128).
Would that it were true. Would that I truly hated the falseness that rises up within my own soul, and makes me believe things about myself and the world and the church that are not true. And the same falseness that stands before men as a teacher of God’s Word without having fully learned and lived it myself. I am before you today as a part of the problem, which is the fallen nature of man.
But enter the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth (the personality of which the “witnesses” violently deny!). A new vision of life appears. I see in me now the other side of things. I recognize Truth and love it. More and more I hate not only the evil in my own heart but that which is proclaimed by cults and spirits of demons all over this world.
“The Word speaks of false witnesses, false prophets, false apostles, false brothers, false teachers, and points out many false teachings. The fate of those who are the channels of this falseness is clear and unpleasant. Never does the Scripture sugar-coat the idea that God hates falseness. He wants the same of His children.” (copied)
I have in other books recounted the falseness of Romanism, Islam, and certain teachings within Protestantism. I have decried hypocrisy and fads and popular teachings. I have desired that zeal for God’s House would eat me up. There have been times when it seemed that that indeed was happening.
I now set my gaze upon the “Watch Tower Tract and Bible Society”, The “Jehovah’s Witnesses”, as they are so very wrongly labeled.
With Islam and the paganism within Rome, the target is easy to find and hit. With this modern day cult, a deception has been placed upon mankind that is so clever as to take in thousands of professing Christians, simple-minded and uninformed believers. Subtlety is the name of the Witness game coupled with in-your-face lies about events occurring in our day coupled with their supposed predictions in “prophetic” Scripture.
This book is about a master deception that came into the world/church by way of Charles Taze Russell and “Judge” Rutherford.
And oh, we can’t forget Teacher Arius.
And then there is Brother Miller.
And more.
The lie tries to invade every generation. This present manifestation/infestation began in the 19th century. There were truly spiritual giants in the land in those days, great men and women of God! But there were other men, too. I’ll introduce you.
We’ve all been made aware of the work of these energetic, zealous people. But I became doubly aware of them in connection with my work in Albany Park, Chicago. This is a community of 50-60 nations speaking over 40 languages. It is a hot-bed of Islam, home of a Mormon Temple, seat of a strong Catholic faith, and who knows what else.
And a Kingdom Hall.
On any given warm day, and days not so warm, one can see their trademark carts in anywhere from 7-12 locations just in this neighborhood. I got to the place where I had to say something when I walked by them on my way to my office there. It wasn’t always nice. Yes, “I hate every false way” but I know that we are called to love the perpetrators of the falseness, into the Kingdom, if at all possible.
Anyway, I offered no lectures. Maybe just a question, and move on, like, “What if you are wrong?” or
“Have you read your history from a neutral source?” or simply,
“Have you heard that Jesus is really God?”
I quoted Scriptures other times. Like,
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
Or that wonderful story of Thomas bowing before Jesus and calling Him, “My Lord and my God!” and Jesus not even blinking, definitely not rejecting the title, as Bible angels will do when suddenly approached with worship.
Needless to say, no “Witnesses” have come out of their Kingdom Hall into the Kingdom because of me. At least, none that I know of.
Then there was the Cart. We constructed our own “Witness” Cart, and filled it with Bibles and other literature, attached a white-board to the top of it, and taught lessons to the Witnesses, cart to cart. Fun, but no fruit of which I am aware.
When confronted, they either started talking, or changed their locations. Technically, they are not allowed to listen to any non-witness teaching. If they do, and they are reported, they can be dis-fellowshipped. At times, I thought about calling their supervisors and reporting that they had been listening in earnest to me. Just thought about it. Never did it.
