"Closing Doxology" LD 52b / Psalm 2 & 149
We approach the end of the Lord's Prayer and an inscription of praise the Lord puts on our lips...even as we sometimes do at the beginning though Christ sets us with the knowledge of first knowing that He is our Heavenly Father. We were pressed to His bosom first and foremost. Then a prayer and 3 petitions regarding God...for the Kingdom, His Name to be hollowed, and His Glory. Then prayer and petitions regarding ourselves and our tem...ptations that we face. We prayed petitions and now we have a CONFESSION! "Thine IS..." We begin and end our prayer with the Glory of God with everything else sandwiched in between and needing to be to His Glory. From start to Amen!
This is a very BOLD CONFESSION/ASSURTION connected intimately to all the petitions before. We could translate that word "for" as "because." Because Thine IS the Kingdom, Power, and Glory. This will cleanse our prayers of all carnality understanding this very concept. Many prayers made today when submitted to this "test" would be seen as carnal. If we understand the fundamental outline then will we see the seriousness of our petitions and prayers that we utter.
*A prayer for the Kingdom. We prayed for the coming of it as citizens of it who look forward to it and its realization. Now we make it a CONFESSION! IT IS GODS! In its coming and its realization. That brings you to the Power of God.
*God's Power is definite. "His IS.." (Underline that word IS.) God HAS ALL Power and IS the DYNAMO behind ALL things and ALL things reflect His power! There is no power apart from the Power of the Living God!
*And it all works to the Glory of God. It ALL serves Him and He glorifies Himself in it ALL! The Glory of His reflected in His Kingdom that is sure and realized in it!
It is sure and can be seen only with the eyes of Faith. You and I believe that. "Thine is the Kingdom and I belong to it!" A confession! And Thine alone is the Power and we believe it! Everything including our lives is in the Power of God and we see it! We belong to the Kingdom for ONE reason....to glorify God even into Eternity! He glorifies Himself in the Church and we will see it in Glory when we join the angels in song. Those who seek God have only one purpose in life.....
That is why we say Amen. It is SURE and God WILL be glorified into eternity...and yes, even from the bottom of hell!
Not just Amen, a closing to prayer as it is often used but "It CERTAINLY and SHALL be!" And to that we can say AMEN!
