The Pastor had the opportunity at the end of April to write to 15 schools in the Devizes area offering Bibles. This was done in conjunction with his role on the Wessex Auxiliary of the TBS. Out of the 15 schools contacted there were replies from 5 schools. The School at Rowde wanted 200 Bibles (one for each child), a school copy, and a Bible Timeline. The Head was also keen for the Pastor to go into the school.
The School at Wansdyke requested 60 Bibles for their KS1 and KS2 children.
The School at Chirton requested 52 Bibles for their pupils.
The school at All Cannings wanted a Bible for each class - 5 in total.
Finally the school at Urchfont requested a Bible Timeline and the RE co-ordinator was also keen for links to be forged between the school and the Chapel here.
Maryport Street Baptist Chapel has covered these costs as part of its outreach and ministry.
Please bring thanksgiving to the Lord for this amazing divinely appointed opportunity. Please pray for these schools and children as they receive the Word of God perhaps for the first time, that they may read and have applied that Word by the Spirit of God. Pray for ongoing contact and opportunities in these schools. Pray for the other 10 local schools that had letters, that they too might respond positively and receive Bibles.
