Yesterday I read one of my favorite passages. In Joshua 3, Joshua told the children of Israel that the ark of the covenant would lead them into the promised land. They were to set a distance between them and the ark. This was because they had not been this way before. They were to follow the ark. They were not to move ahead, or lag too far behind.
Sometimes it is difficult to wait on God. Our instant gratification society wants to take action now. Yet, we must remember, God has a plan and purpose for us. The way may not always be clear, but we can be confident when we are following the Lord, the path will lead to what is best for us.
Are you willing to wait? Are you willing to follow? Waiting on God's best is better than instant gratification, now matter how "happy" you think it makes you. Following God is always better than jumping ahead and following the ways of the world.
