Brilliant! This is a wonderful summary of this pastor’s teachings on Ecclesiastes over the years. (Every other pastor should be required to listen to this before preaching or teaching this challenging book.)
I’m so thankful for the explanation of the true meaning of the Hebrew word which is translated in our Bibles as “vanity” or “meaningless”. That really does change one’s understanding of the entire book. (Interesting that the problem was caused by an incorrect translation of the word by St Jerome so many centuries ago.)
Great Sermon! What a comfort this sermon was for me! I’m one of those very timid Christians who is always afraid to share the gospel, because I don’t like confrontations and because I sinfully put the burden on myself, rather than on the Lord. This sermon reminded me that the gospel is not only Just about words, but that it comes to people with the power of the Holy Spirit. No one will be saved by MY words, but only by the words and the power of Almighty God. What a wonderful truth, that relieves me of thinking I have to say it all perfectly!
Good devotional Thank you for this teaching. The section about baptism was very helpful. So was the part about adding anything to Jesus or the Scriptures. “Jesus is enough and He has done enough.” Yes and Amen.
Also the warnings about certain books, Including those written by people who say they’ve been to heaven, and the book “Jesus Calling”. We always need to be discerning.
Remarkable Sermon! What a powerful sermon! Preached in 2016 and needed all the more now in 2024.
“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
We need not fear or hate or seek vengeance. The LORD reigns over all and He will bring justice to His enemies, and we who are righteous in Christ will behold His face. Glory, Hallelujah! Praise be to God!
Wonderful sermon! This sermon is so helpful! One of the main themes is that God weans us continually, weans us from love of self, love of the world, etc. I need to remember this and not complain about the things He takes away.
Great Sermon! Well done! My soul is rejoicing! Death has no sting for those whose sins have been forgiven through Christ’s death (and that truth is proved by His resurrection). I really like the picture of death as a schoolyard bully who cannot frighten us because we have a big brother who protects us.
Great Sermon! Very good counsel. We become discouraged when we listen to ourselves, rather than to God’s word. And also when we become impatient during trials that linger. We then make irrational decisions and suffer the consequences.
Great Sermon! The pastor presents many excellent points about unbelief, including the fact that unbelief is so harmful to us, by keeping us from getting a good night’s sleep, etc. And that unbelief is very infectious. We all need to listen to these truths and ask God to forgive us and help us to conquer unbelief in our daily lives.
Great Sermon! Amen! Jesus came to give us true joy, not what the world considers happiness. And celebrating the Lord’s Day every week is a big part of our joy, or should be.
Great Sermon! Very good, especially the last part, which ties the fact that some women are the first to see the empty tomb, together with Genesis 3:15.
Great Sermon! Wonderful! May the Holy Spirit empower each one of us to glorify God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ in every thought, every word, every deed. What a great High Priest we have!
Excellent Excellent sermon on suicide among young people. He covered so many important reasons why so many young people kill themselves. And what we can do to help.
When he questioned a teenager in his church who was obviously very disturbed, the young man said that he might kill his entire family. This sermon is 18 years old. I think by now we all know that we should immediately report any such information to the police. I’m writing this two days after a woman killed three children and three adults at a Christian school in Nashville. She herself was then killed by police. A lot of times, it seems like part of the motivation for mass shootings is a desire in the shooter’s heart to die himself. So suicidal thoughts can sometimes end up in the deaths of others as well. Let’s not be afraid to give important information to authorities when it could be a matter of life and death.
