K.T.Thread, You have mentioned some extreme examples. There is nothing new under the sun. Are you familiar with the Mennonites and how both the women and men dress? That is how many in our local school looked! In our church as well! When you look at a Mennonite woman, for example, how she is dressed, etc., the first thing one will say in all probability is "that woman looks like a religious person" or something of that nature. That's great when a person can say that without even knowing the person. Just her outward appearance can give it away. I realize that hypocrites wear skirts, dresses, slacks, you name it, I'm just talking about "good old fashioned modest apparrel. I don't think that a true Christian should have a problem with what the Bible says on this matter, I really don't!! |

I remember when most, if not all, women wore dresses. When women and girls started wearing slacks, pants, jeans, etc. in the early 60's, it seemed that from that era and on, things in general went down hill. I long for the days when women dressed differently than men. Women looked like women and men looked like men. Let's be fair. Why didn't men start wearing dresses and skirts? Same thing! Just the other way around. I can see why younger women will disagree with me. They weren't around then to see the difference. I only speak from experience. I've seen couples both wearing jeans and the same shirt. It looked like 2 men together. I still love what I read in the Bible re: modest apparrel, long hair on women, etc. Call me "old fashioned, ignorant, male chauvanist, etc. You had to have lived back then and you certainly would understand where I'm coming from! |
