MG wrote: GSTexas: It's easy to use 2Cor3 against the Torah/law. However, that can't really be the point here because there's too many other comment from Paul that show otherwise. In fact, in chapter 2, he even talks about the gospel bringing death! Hebrews is all about the priesthood and sacrifices. Read it through without a commentary, and it becomes quite clear (especially if you see the words that KJV adds). I believe we had this discussion before, and didnt get anywhere. We'll just have to agree to disagree again. |

A reminder for some (Im not referring to the Sabbath, but the Old Testament laws).2 Corinthians 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 3:8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 3:9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 3:10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 3:11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. Hebrews 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. |

The ones Ive heard about sound terrible. The one my mother in law goes to has a country/western setting, even as far as having a horse trough for baptisms! They have little rodeos afterwards as well. The women are very inappropriate from what I hear. Its all a joke. One my friend went to sang "Ghost Riders In The Sky" , and there was a big ceiling fan that said "Big A** Fan" on it. He also said the preaching was dead. |

SteveR writes: It was the unreliability and failure of selfish men not properly leading their households that made this society possible.Spot on. Sadly, even in the church, men just leave the training of their kids to the youth group or public school, and never take time to teach them scripture, doctrine, or holy living. I like to teach my girls out of Spurgeons Catechism, which is identical to the Westminster Shorter Catechism, except that it teaches believers baptism. I find they pay attention better, and get more involved with the question-answer format of the catechism. It seems like when I read scripture to them, it just goes over their head (my oldest is five), and I get a little discouraged. |

"I am aware how deeply this plague has struck its roots; under what a semblance of good it conceals its true character, bearing the name of Christ before it, and making many believe that under the single name of Mass is comprehended the whole sum of faith. But when it shall have been most clearly proved by the word of God, that this Mass, however glossed and splendid, offers the greatest insult to Christ, suppresses and buries his cross, ensigns his death to oblivion, takes away the benefit which it was designed to convey, enervates and dissipates the sacrament, by which the remembrance of his death was retained, will its roots be so deep that the most powerful ax, the word of God, will not cut it down and destroy it?"-John Calvin, from"The Institutes of The Christian Religion" |

John UK wrote: Why don't we both take a bow? I could do with a rest now after several hours of revival preaching. I just hope it has done some good to someone somewhere, or the Lord will tell me off for wasting my time and his. But thanks also for the chat. Back tomorrow folks for another episode of "Why shouldn't we expect revival in the church which Christ purchased with his own blood?" I found the conversation interesting, and am looking forward to tomorows episode. |
