Wayfarer Pilgrim wrote: I'd like a holiday from obnoxious atheists. I mean since God will revenge, then I'll let God sort it out, till then, I'll go to a lodge that still has a Gideon bible in the night stand. Their bible print style is amazing. how bout we make a deal with them? they can remove the bibles if we can remove all the illicit movies and programs they have playing in the hotel rooms. we worship God in the bible and they the great gods of tv land. bible for tv. |

s c wrote: You wax poetic my whole world does not center on the RCC! you all give them way too much power.Christ is King and is on His throne, give Him glory. Muslems are having dreams about Christ before they meet missionaries. God is drawing a remnant to Himself all over the world! These are varied people, not all anglo saxon old English readers, but all tribes and tongues. Not all of our cultural traits can be equated with Christianity. For Moslem, will want to debate with a cup of coffee heritage of Abraham, it will be historical. For the new ager, they will want to discuss application of good works as a form of righteousness, and the character of God will be an issue. For the Catholic, they will be bound in idols and will have to discern that following Christ is not through a mad made system. For the illiterate, you can't just hand them off a bible. The Greeks were philosphers, the Hebrews often mystics, and you see in scripture a multifaceted ministry among the Apostles and in the scriptures multiple genres of writing. The idea is not to cut off our emotions, cut off our creativity, cut off our use of literary devices, cut off our service to the weak rather that all our gifts and weaknesses redeemed. |

better yet wrote: This rebellious hatred for AUTHORITY is also manifested in the rabid attacks on the Holy Bible by self-proclaimed scholars. the pendulum swings too far the other way when pastors who have not invested that time and effort snub those who have. |

TS wrote: Irreverent popish NASB errors. all opinions spoken by those who have never learned Greek, have never looked at original copies and thus have no authority to speak on what the original languages say. in many cases the Greek they use now is going to match OT and NT together better because the text that KJV translated from in OT. But these nuances would come from scholars of the languages... just like I wouldn't let a non English reader or biblical illiterate claim expertise on the KJV.KJV is a good version. What followers of Christ are doing today, unlocking the backgrounds of that day to life, is exactly what the "spirit of reformation" was about. Still learning... there are errors in the KJV. KJV onlys, some of them (not all, some read it as reliable) make a relic out of it. Good scholarship is still a need in the church. Wow, the things I've learned from backgrounds have brought me understanding to what I'm reading and bless my understanding! this is not Gnosticism, its being a good berean. if people want to argue against scholarship, then we have "arrived" at "full knowledge"? the Christian never does, never meant to, learning continues. |

s c wrote: Paintings may be "inspiring" but they still are not an adequate means when it comes to the Gospel dear one, no one is saying such things.there are beautiful things in this life to feel and experience. did you know that forgiveness is both an actuality and an emotion? think about it, if you don't feel forgiveness in your heart towards another (still resentment), it isn't there, you gotta get back to the Lord for that. then there's joy, with the presence of the Lord is joy. I'll not intellectualize that too much. There are some who never experience the joy of the Lord, that is sad to hear. yes, we should know His joy and peace. Freud is the one who taught that emotions are to be suspect, to be conquered. I say let Christ rule over all areas of one's life, let the peace of God surpass understanding, the fruit of the Spirit being love joy peace patience kindness, etc, all require personal input. truth and love are written together frequently. or truth in love. |

Sure not protecting the innocent. one in which are the Christian men are taught week after week by weak pastors that their job is to remain silent. did we create a system in which those in positions of influence have no account to law and justice? no one is held to account therefore there is nothing holding back their evil imaginations. |

Dolores wrote: Rick Warren wrote a book called,"Purpose Driven Church". And in it he gives instruction on how to have a growing church.. his movement has caused a great deal of harm and he seems linked to many globalist efforts, the reductionism which so many propose is well beyond puritanism into a sort of secularization (and mixing profane and profound) of the church. hope you are well. we've had a blessing this week to keep things agoing, but times are not easy, sure could use your prayers, thanks dear sister and others here. |
