mmm spot on john, that is encoraging thanks for the link.i was thinking earlier today of hiring the local village hall for a series of creation talks you have reminded me to read fox 's book of martyrs which i have and forgot that i had it i will commencs it this evening. Just as a small aside andy mackintosh does well to include: Pilateâs question echoes down the centuries â âWhat is truth?â (John 18:38). The irony of the situation was lost on him that day however i disagre with his exposition which is the usual view. Pilate was a shrewd operator a politician to his fingernails if historical narratives are anything to go by. In the context of the illegal arrest and false witnesses which the Jews had perjured themselves i believe that nothing was lost on him, he wasnt asking he was commenting on the truth being what these wicked people wanted it to be and the value of truth, ie he could see Jesus was innocent of the charges but that it did no good, its an ironic statement if you will. John macurther has done an excellent series of sermons on John there is quite a few of them but i listened to them all Im just back from surf canoeing - The water is COLD but big waves and no wind - nice |

Rick wrote: The divisions in this town, or any other, let us know how far from God's word our neighbors really are. Jesus said he didn't come to bring peace but a sword. Many people in our towns and churches prize unity over truth. This story shows where we really are in America. This teacher, and anyone else that stands up for Jesus, is a hero in Heaven, no matter what people on earth say of them. "And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubles Israel?" 1 Kings 18: 17. |
