This time of year we are bombarded with this season's message from every angle the world can think of. Just look at commercialism as it's wrapped in Christmas. Bargains and bottom lines! Even as society has been eradicating God from EVERYTHING! This world has gutted God from this Holiday. But this is not the most bothersome. Even where the message of Christmas would be and should be the brightest, the Gos...pel and its message is also often dim. A Word of God, A message that is the totality of Christmas!
Paul says here is a Word that is worthy of being accepted. To believe in it. That Christ came to this world to save sinners. The sounds of the season continue to rotate in our minds, but they are far from the truth which "is always evil spoken of in the world" who do not want the truth. They want the baby in the manger scene, but do not want God! The truth is suppressed but it is reliable as its source is found in God! He speaks that Word and IS the Word. It is truth because God cannot lie. Jesus born of Mary and placed in a manger is very God! He who begot us by the truth speaks the truth among all the empty chatter.
God's Word. Christ Jesus came into this world for sinners to save. That's the Christmas story!...you hear the narrative, all about reindeer and sleighs, but you NEVER hear this! Even though the story is told we look for the heart of the story...the story BEHIND the story! Christ came sinners to save! Where is the Christ of God? That's the Christmas story!
As we see and hear the Christmas story make sure you see Christ who came into this world. The Prophet, Priest, and King of God! His name was Joshua who would lead His people out of bondage and into the promise land. And the Christmas story without mention of sin means NOTHING to us who are sinners just like God's self ordained minister (Apostle Paul) says "of whom I am chief." And you and me who find God sent His Son to this world to save us!
