Sermons are the central part of our worship services as we actively listen to the Word of God being explained and applied to our lives. We believe that the preaching of the Bible is the most important instrument God uses to create and nourish faith. Romans 10:13, 14, & 17 teaches that, 'Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.' How, then, can they call on the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?... Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ."
Paul instructs the young pastor Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:2-4 to, "Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage -- with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."
