Great Sermon! Men hide from God in their ideological strongholds, and it is the duty of the Christian soldier to tear down those strongholds with the spiritual weapons our King has provided! Excellent exhortation to this important duty!
Outstanding Sermon! I appreciated many things about this sermon, but especially the following three points: 1.) Simplicity of presentation. It's an understandable introduction to covenanting for those who have no prior knowledge of the topic, and also a great review of the basics for those with more knowledge. 2.) As an American Covenanter, I was glad to hear the discussion of the relationship of the Solemn League and Covenant to the U.S. 3.)The hopeful remarks near the end of the sermon concerning God's reluctance to let go of His covenanted people. Looking at our nations today, it is easy to despair and lose hope that we will ever return to the Lord Jesus. But surely God will yet deal in mercy towards us!
Great Lecture! Why is our society falling apart? The reason is that we have rejected the absolute truth of God in favor of relativism. Relativism teaches that there is no absolute truth and that each one must find truth and meaning within himself. But is it absolutely true that there is no absolute truth? The denial of absolute truth is logically impossible, yet 98% of college students do not believe there are any absolutes. This belief that each one must find truth within himself is the cause of much of the absurdity we see in our society as well as the purposelessness, despair, and culture of death which surround us. "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 14:12
It is only the Bible and the God of the Bible that provide the absolutes, and hence the stability, necessary to combat the deadly consequences of relativism. Do not be as Pilate, who with the very incarnation of truth standing before him asked, "What is truth?" and then turned away from Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life! Come to Jesus Christ and build your life on the absolutes of His Word to discover truth, meaning, and purpose in life!
Great Sermon! The belief that matter is all that exists has become dominant in our society. Our thoughts, emotions, and desires are all viewed as mere products of chemical reactions in our bodies. But is this consistent with reality, or is it man's delusional attempt to hide from the greatest reality, the living and true God? This attempt to deny reality and hide from God is at the root
of man's restlessness and self-destruction, and can only be remedied by
turning to the Lord Jesus Christ in faith and repentance.
“Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.”― Augustine
Great Sermon! We all live in a postmodern age, an age in which faith and reason have been cast aside. Being led by our feelings, the individual has become the arbiter of truth and reality, and the idea of absolute, universal truth has been dismissed from our consciousness. This postmodern worldview is a massive failure as can be observed in high suicide rates, the drug addiction problem, the dissolution of the family, and the confusion which surrounds even the most basic elements of personality such as gender and sexual orientation. We have now become as gods, determining good and evil for ourselves, and what foolish and absurd gods we are!
Postmodernism has led many to despair and hopelessness, a sense that nothing is really real. What is the answer? It is Jesus Christ, the only sure foundation in a world without an anchor. It is the Bible, God's absolute truth, which teaches us all that we need to repent of our delusions and turn to Jesus Christ. Reject the weak and uncertain foundation of post-modernism, and instead build your life on the only sure foundation of Jesus Christ and His Word.
"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock." Matthew 7:24
Great Sermon! Very challenging message; a sober analysis of modern Britain,we are right there in the same predicament as the people of Israel at the time of the Judges. This message is an earnest appeal to contend for the faith. Thank you.
Maybe people were OUT when Rev Allan visited them after the service in Clarence Court Nursing Home. Also some people may be frightened to open their doors to complete strangers too!
Thank you! Thank you so much for sharing this message. I am an American with Scottish ancestry, and the Lord has laid Scotland on my heart to pray for her to be reformed again--that Christ might draw her again to Himself. This message was fantastic. I love your explanation of the separation of Church and State, and also your statement that God must be saying "how can I let you go." I believe He will save many souls there, and bring many sons to salvation. Soli Deo Gloria.
Great Sermon! This is a tremendous sermon on Biblical Praise which is full of Teaching.Anybody with any thoughts of introducing other forms of worship should liaten to this sermon first.
Excellent Sermon! In a day when the public worship of God has degenerated to man-centred will-worship, sadly being the norm in many congregations, one delights in hearing a clear and solid emphasis being laid upon the biblical requirement of the Regulative Principle of Worship prescribed in the Holy Scriptures.
We pray for the return of a mighty resurgence in faithful submission to biblical praise as found in God's inspired and inerrant hymn book - The Psalms of David. A revival of true biblical religion is sorely needed in our land.
Covenanter Quote Completed, On Covenant Obligation Below is the end portion of the quote that was truncated in the comment above.
"Now, had it not been for this covenant, the extirpation of the Gibeonites would not have been imputed to Israel as a thing criminal; for they were comprehended in Canaanitish nations, which God had commanded them to root out."
