We're on the final legs of the third missionary journey of the Apostle Paul. He made a stop at the seaport of Miletus and asked the elders from the nearby Ephesus to meet him there. He had avoided stopping directly at Ephesus because he knew it would be impossible not to be delayed, both by the excess sailing time and the amount of time he would end up spending with the people there, after being with them earlier for three years.
Before we get to what Paul said as a shepherd to the shepherds of the flock, on behalf of the Chief Shepherd, it will be helpful for all of us to pay attention to the things that Paul did. You don't need to be an apostle in order to live for Christ.
