Jesus prayed that God glorify Him, the Son (John 17:1). We, as believers, must also pray the Lord's petition. "Glorify Your children in order that Your children may glory You," which means "grant grace and power to enable them to do Your will so that Your Kingdom comes to them, and Your will is done on earth as it is in heaven." Believers are kept, not by self-effort or resolve, but in His name (in the character of Him whose stead-fast love and faithfulness to His own is established by covenant promises). The believer's security rests in the transaction of Christ with His Father, not our efforts. Christ keeps them because of His faithful obedience to His Father's purpose. What comfort this provides to His own.
