In the gospels, the event of the Cross is the overarching, predominant theme; everything is building up towards it. Upon the cross, the self sacrificial love of Jesus was poured out, in a gracious atonement through his broken body and shed blood. When we consider the cross, we cannot help but think about how great the love of Christ was for his people!
