At first glance this seems like a very difficult, if not impossible request. For where is that man, woman or child that has not suffered under the torment which comes with anxiety and fear?
Fear of failure, fear over the future, fear of their job, their health, for their loved ones; fear for their life and fear of death. Ever since feared entered into the world by the fall of Adam, man has suffered under its torments. "I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid." (Gen 3:10)
Yet, with the coming of Christ into the world, the Prince of Peace, sinful man now has hope in obtaining eternal peace through His life, death, burial and resurrection from the dead.
Yet, even after grace imparted, the true believer must still struggle against the fear of temporal needs and cares. In these verses the Apostle Paul declares how the believer is to overcome such anxieties. |
