One of the strangest and most intriguing men in the Old Testament is Ezekiel the prophet. This man was also a priest and his name means "God strengthens". Ezekiel certainly needed the encouragement and enablement of God. He spent most of his life as a captive in the land of Babylon declaring God's judgment to the people of Israel. In this chapter when God calls him to be a prophet, he is given a message of hope in the purpose and providence of God. We live in a similar world where we constantly depend upon God's provision and His providence.
