Peter's admontion to the elders in the church of Rome shows us his heart. Once he was thick and proud, but was humbled after his thrice denial of Christ. While he had abandoned His Lord, Jesus declared what he must now do. THat is if Peter really loved Him Peter would feed His sheep. This means Peter cannot think of hismelf, but must selflessly feed and tend to the flock of God. Likewise, Peter admonishes the elders in Rome to do the same. Peter then closes by declaring to them that if they are faithful they will receive an amaranth crown of glory that will never pass away when Christ returns.
