These verses reveal how God was intending to deal with the Jews in Paul's day and the focus remains upon those days. In God's sovereign plan the Jews rejected Christ which brought the Gentiles into the Kingdom which in turn provoked the elect remnant amongst the Jews to believe. Paul exhorts the Gentiles to rejoice in this conversion of the Jews and shows how his own ministry to the Gentiles would impact the Jewish remnant. He also assures the Gentiles that the remnant would be brought into full salvation. This sermon argues that Paul's words had a very present (Paul's present) focus and not a distant future focus.
