I don't know what happens around your house, but when my wife and I know that someone is dropping by for a visit, there is a mad dash to make our home look presentable and to be ready for their visit. Jesus is coming! And even though over 2,000 years have transpired since Jesus made that announcement it does not change the fact that Jesus Christ is coming. He is returning. Peter believed he was living in the last days and anticipated the coming of Christ. And he encourages his readers and us today to be prepared for Christ's coming. We need to think straight and be alert to prayer. But we, above all things, need to be fervent in our love. Jesus predicted that when he comes, many's love will have grown cold. Our love needs to be fervent, forbearing, forgiving, and forgetful for love is to cover a multitude of sins. As we anticipate Christ's coming, we are to show hospitality to one another, but to do so without grumbling. We are not only to have open homes, but open hearts as we share the love of Christ with strangers and other believers. In doing so, we just might entertain angels unaware.
