Aim: To know that, even in the darkest times of human history, God is still in control of all things.
Exegesis: God uses sinners to accomplish His ends. Someone had to condemn Christ (v. 43) and betray Christ (vv. 44-45). God uses sinners to fulfill His word, that the Messiah would be wrongly arrested (vv. 46-47) and accused (vv. 48-49). God uses sinners to demonstrate His truthfulness, because Jesus said the disciples would be scattered (v. 50) and troubled (vv. 51-52).
Key verse: v. 49 ''I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.''
