God once-and-for-all solved the problem of His people's recalcitrant sin, by renewing the covenant and placing Himself on both ends of it! 1. The covenant became unbreakable; unlike the old covenant with their fathers, which they broke. (v.31-32) 2. The covenant became internal, with law written on their hearts and knowing The LORD; unlike the old covenant, with the law written on stone. (v.33-34a) 3. The covenant became universal, because the new covenant is Jesus! In the N.C., God is gifting the whole body of Christ with Christ Himself, meaning that we all receive His forgiveness and His obedience, unlike the old covenant which demanded individual obedience as a condition of each one receiving God's blessing.
